Product Overview

The FSTEST Pesticide Test Kit is engineered for the rapid detection of organophosphorus and carbamate pesticide residues in various fruits and vegetables. Designed for both efficiency and accuracy, this kit provides a reliable solution for food safety screening, offering results you can trust to ensure agricultural produce meets safety standards.

Working Principle

Our test kit operates on a highly reliable enzymatic inhibition principle, with the core reaction and detection logic as follows:

  • Enzyme Inhibition Effect: Under specific conditions, the presence of organophosphorus and carbamate pesticides will inhibit the normal function of cholinesterase, and this inhibition rate is positively correlated with the actual concentration of the pesticides present in the sample.

  • Substrate Hydrolysis Reaction: Nerve conduction metabolites (acetylcholine) subsequently act as the substrate for hydrolysis, which is catalyzed by the residual enzyme that remains active after inhibition.

  • Chromogenic Reaction: The resulting hydrolysate then reacts with a specific chromogenic agent, producing a distinct yellow substance that enables visual and instrumental identification.

  • Quantitative Detection: By measuring the change in absorbance value at 412nm using a spectrophotometer, the inhibitory rate can be precisely calculated, thereby determining the presence and relative content of these harmful pesticide residues in the sample.

Detection Limits

Our kit offers high sensitivity for a variety of common pesticides involved in fruit and vegetable planting, ensuring accurate screening of trace residues. The specific detection limits for targeted pesticides are listed below:

Carbofuran:0.02 mg/kg

Methomyl:   0.2 mg/kg

Profenofos: 0.5 mg/kg

DDVP:0.2 mg/kg

Dipterex:0.1 mg/kg

Kit Specifications & Composition

Testing Capacity: 500 tests per kit.

Included Components: Buffer Solution x10 , Chromogenic Agent x2 , Substrate x4 , and User Manual x1.

Required Appliances (Not Provided): Pipette, pipette tips, and a water bath.

Easy-to-Follow Operating Procedure

1. Sample Treatment

Normal Strain Detection: Wipe off the surface soil from the sample and cut it into small pieces (approximately 1 cm³). Weigh 3g of the sample into a small beaker or sampling bottle, and mix it with 10mL of buffer. Shake the mixture 50 times, let it stand for over 2 minutes, and extract the supernatant for testing.

Special Strain Detection (for chives, scallions, etc.): Wipe off surface soil, weigh 3g of the sample, and mix with 10mL buffer in a beaker. Avoid letting the damaged surface of the vegetable contact the buffer. Shake 50 times, stand for more than 2 minutes, and use the supernatant.

2. Testing Steps

Control Test: Add 3mL of buffer into a reaction bottle. Add 100 µL of chromogenic agent and 100 µL of cholinesterase, then mix well. Incubate at 37°C for 15 minutes, add 100 µL of substrate, shake, and transfer immediately to a colorimetric sample cup. Measure the absorbance change (ΔA0) over 3 minutes using the "contrast" button on the test channel.

3. Result Interpretation

The inhibition rate is calculated using the formula: Inhibition rate(%) = [(A0 - At) / A0] x 100%.

This rate is generally calculated automatically when using a Rapid Pesticide Detector.

Positive Result: If the inhibition rate exceeds 50%, the pesticide residues exceed the standard. Positive samples require repeated testing (more than two times) and further confirmation using gas chromatography or other analytical instruments.

Storage & Shelf Life

Transport & Short-term: The kit can be stored and safely transported at room temperature for up to 30 days.

Long-term Storage: Keep refrigerated at 4-8°C to maintain stability for an additional 12 months.

Note: Prepared Chromogenic agent, Substrate, and Cholinesterase should be kept at 4-8°C.
