Product Description
Formaldehyde is a commonly used chemical substance for manufacturing plastic resins that can be used in the wood, paper, and textile industries. Formalin, a solution with about 37% formaldehyde content, can serve as a disinfectant and preservative for household products.
On the other hand, formaldehyde can change the color perception of certain foods and make them look fresher. At the same time, it also has a preservative effect. Some unscrupulous merchants add formaldehyde during food processing. After consumers ingest food containing formaldehyde, it usually leads to abdominal pain, vomiting, coma, kidney damage and may even lead to death.

Kit composition
Formaldehyde reagent A (55mL)×1 Formaldehyde reagent B (55mL)×1 Formaldehyde reagent C (25mL)×1 Formaldehyde reagent D×1 Formaldehyde reagent E (25mL)×1 Formaldehyde reagent F (6mL)×1 5 mL centrifuge tube×50 15 mL centrifuge tube ×10 Standard colorimetric card×1 User manual. The reagents and appliances may be required but not provided: Centrifuge or filter paper , vortexers and so on.
Reagent preparation and storage
Take 21 mL from formaldehyde reagent E and add it to the bottle of formaldehyde reagent D. Dissolve evenly and set aside for later use. (During preparation, it is recommended to dissolve by ultrasound and confirm that the dissolution is fully dissolved. The prepared formaldehyde reagent D should be used up within 6 months).
Sample Preparation
1 Liquid samples: Take the clear liquid directly as the sample solution to be tested. For turbid liquids, filter first and then take a sample. 2 Solid samples: For bamboo shoots, take 1 g, and for beef tripe, squid, and silverfish, take 2 g and place them in a 15 mL centrifuge tube. 3 Add purified water to make the volume up to 10 mL. Extract by vortexing for 1 min and let it stand for 5 min. Add 1 mL of formaldehyde reagent A and 1 mL of formaldehyde reagent B. Vortex to mix well. Centrifuge at 4000 r/min for 5 min or filter with filter paper. Take the supernatant or filtrate as the extraction solution.
Procedure & steps
1 Take a 5 mL centrifuge tube and add 2 mL of the extraction solution. 2 Add 0.4 mL of formaldehyde reagent C and 0.4 mL of the prepared formaldehyde reagent D. Mix well and let it stand for 7 min. 3 Add 0.1 mL of formaldehyde reagent F, mix well and let it stand for 5 min. 4 Compare with the standard color card of the formaldehyde rapid test kit immediately.
Results determination
Place the color-developing tube of the sample horizontally on white paper, elevate of the top of tube, and compare it with the standard color card. The corresponding color on the color card can obtain the corresponding concentration range. In order to avoid false negative results as much as possible, when interpreting, if the color develops between two color blocks, take the intermediate value of the two concentrations.
