• Target Specificity: Successfully detects up to 94% of E. coli strains expressing the β-glucuronidase enzyme.

• Known Assay Limitations: Strains that naturally lack the β-glucuronidase enzyme (such as E. coli O157:H7) will not produce blue-green colonies on this substrate. For pathogenic strain screening (e.g., O157:H7), specific pathogen detection kits or molecular testing should be used.
