Product Overview
The FSTest™ Salmonella Count Plate (Gel-type) is a pre-prepared, ready-to-use culture medium product composed of a basal culture medium, a cold-water-soluble gel, and indicators. This diagnostic tool is an ideal choice for food safety laboratories, quality control centers, and regulatory testing environments. Engineered for efficiency and accuracy, this product eliminates the complex preparation steps of traditional agar pouring, providing a streamlined solution for the rapid enumeration of Salmonella.
Core Product Features & Advantages
Our gel-type count plates are designed to streamline laboratory workflows while delivering highly reliable microbial detection data, with the following core strengths:
² Innovative Ready-to-Use Design: Consists of basal culture medium, unique cold-water-soluble gel and advanced indicators, no traditional agar preparation, melting and pouring operations required, which greatly saves laboratory time and labor costs.
² Clear Chromogenic Identification: The core detection principle is that the chromogenic agent is reduced by bacterial dehydrogenase to produce red substances, forming visible red colonies, with obvious color contrast and easy observation.
² Highly Specific Visuals: Salmonella presents distinct red or reddish-brown colonies with yellow acid halos. Other interfering background microorganisms form green, blue or purple colonies, realizing intuitive differentiation and effectively avoiding false judgments.
² Exceptional Sensitivity: Comply with strict international food safety testing standards, with a low detection limit of 1 CFU/g(mL), which can accurately detect trace Salmonella in samples.
² Optimized Incubation Cycle: Shorten the traditional incubation cycle, the entire culture and detection process only needs 18-24 hours after sample inoculation, realizing rapid detection.
Flexible Testing Workflows
To adapt to samples with different bacterial loads, two independent sample treatment and inoculation procedures are supported to ensure accurate detection results:
1. Direct Testing (For samples with high bacterial load)
u Weigh 25 g (or mL) of the sample, place it into a sampling container or homogenization bag containing 225mL of sterile water, normal saline or phosphate buffer, and fully shake or homogenize with a paddle blender for 1-2 minutes to prepare a 1:10 sample homogenate.
u Perform gradient dilution (such as 1:100, 1:1000) according to the actual bacterial concentration of the sample to ensure uniform colony growth and facilitate accurate counting.
u Absorb 1mL of diluted sample solution, drop it in a circular motion on the center of the plate inoculation area.
u Gently use a spreader to evenly spread the sample solution over the entire circular inoculation area.
u Place the plate still for at least 10 seconds to allow the medium to fully solidify, then proceed to incubation culture.
2. Enrichment Testing (For samples with low bacterial load)
u Perform static pre-incubation at 36±1°C for 7-8 hours for sample enrichment to increase the concentration of target bacteria.
u Absorb 1mL of sterile water, add it to the center of the plate inoculation area in a circular motion for hydration treatment.
