1 mL Letheen Broth Vial | Dual Mode Dry & Wet Sampling | 25 Swabs Pack Specification | 12 Months Shelf Life (2–25°C) |
The FSTest MicroSwab (Letheen Broth) is an all-in-one environmental surface sampling device pre-filled with Letheen Broth transport medium.
Designed for convenient environmental hygiene monitoring, the swab effectively neutralizes residual sanitizers and preserves collected microorganisms. After sampling, the liquid transport medium can be inoculated directly onto traditional agar plates or ready-to-use culture medium systems (such as microbial count plates) for microbial enumeration, screening, or strain identification.
Dual Sampling Protocols: Versatile workflow supporting both pre-wetted dry-surface sampling and direct dry wet-surface sampling.
Built-in Neutralizing Medium: Contains 1 mL of Letheen Broth per vial to effectively preserve microbial viability and neutralize disinfectant residues.
Snap-Valve Design: Integrated blue snap-valve allows easy, precise release of liquid medium without additional liquid handling.
Seamless Lab Workflow: Directly compatible with agar streak plates, pour plates, or microbial count cards for downstream culturing.
Convenient Ambient Storage: Offers a full 12-month shelf life when stored sealed at 2–25°C away from direct sunlight.

Optimized for environmental surface sampling across diverse processing zones:
STEP 1 Device Prep Equilibrate swab to 20–25°C. For dry surfaces, snap blue valve & squeeze bulb 3–5 times to wet tip. For wet surfaces, pull dry swab directly. | STEP 2 Surface Wiping Hold at 5–30° angle. Wipe a 10×10 cm area in a Z-pattern (horizontal, vertical, diagonals) while applying pressure & rotating swab tip. | STEP 3 Release Medium Reinsert swab into tube. (For wet sampling, snap blue valve now & squeeze bulb 3–5 times). Vortex/shake 10–15 s to release microbes. | STEP 4 Inoculate Pour or pipette liquid medium onto agar plates or microbial count plates for downstream incubation and enumeration. |
Direct Inoculation: Liquid Letheen Broth containing recovered microbes is poured or spread onto agar streak plates, pour plates, or microbial count cards.
Sanitizer Neutralization: Letheen Broth neutralizes residual quaternary ammonium compounds, phenolics, and sanitizers to preserve true microbial viability.
Enumeration Result: Calculate Colony Forming Units (CFU) per 100 cm² surface area following standard incubation protocols.
Adhere to strict operational parameters to ensure maximum screening accuracy:
Vortexing Requirement: Vortexing or vigorous shaking for 10–15 seconds is essential to completely release captured cells from the swab tip into the medium.
Transport Time Window: Microorganisms multiply over time. Complete plate inoculation within 2 hours at room temperature, or within 24 hours under 2–8°C refrigeration.
Angle & Pressure Control: Hold swab shaft at a 5–30° angle and rotate continuously during Z-pattern wiping to maximize cell collection efficiency.
Kit Components Included: 25 MicroSwab devices (pre-filled with 1 mL Letheen Broth), User Manual.
Required Equipment (Not Provided): Vortex mixer, incubator, agar streak plates or microbial count plates.
